The Eric C. Douglass Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies was established in 2007 with a $1.6 million endowment from the estate of a successful, Edmonton entrepreneur who left the family farm at 13 and went on to achieve success in Alberta’s transport, construction and development sectors. The purpose of the centre is to, "engage entrepreneurs and communities to facilitate the design and implementation of business models for new ventures that will enable a new breed of entrepreneurs to, 'make a positive difference in our communities while making a profit.'"
